GIRLSCS Google Workshop 2019

The workshop on August 5th 2019 focused on the intersection between computer science, entrepreneurship, social change, technology, and business. In this workshop, facilitators will be introducing middle school participants to code logic and basic web design skills. Students will be required to “create their own business” and build a website within a certain timeframe. At the end of the workshop, they will be assessed based on how well they are able to sell their business, which will synthesize their communication and showcasing skills through computer science.

  • 9:30am – 10am: Registration, check-in, and setup
  • 10am – 11am: Workshop – Web Development: How to Build Your Own Website (HTML/CSS)
  • 11am – 12pm: Workshop – Selling your business
  • 12pm – 12:30pm: Lunch
  • 12:30pm – 1:30pm: Assess websites and listen to presentations
  • 1:30pm – 2pm: Small ceremony for the winners
