The NCWIT Girls CodeIT Camp was a 4-day workshop consisting of 20 girls at George Mason University from 9 am to 3 pm. It was targeted towards girls in grades 3-8. Middle school girls were introduced to the principles of programming through Scratch, the CS First website, and Code.org. They learned efficiency, problem-solving, logic, and collaboration throughout the camp in addition to multiple computers science principles such as conditionals, loops, HTML, syntax, objects, and variables. After three days of instruction, they had to create a game that addresses an issue in their own community. On the last day of the workshop, the students had to present their final project to classmates and parents.
